Tips on Maximizing Study Time (After Procrastinating)

There are many of us who put off studying so we can watch a show, go out with friends or probably just stay at home doing nothing. If we try to study we get easily distracted, even staring at the wall or the ceiling may be a more fun thing to do. Changing is not an option because it is already finals period. So what do we do? First and foremost we need to practice self-control. From my personal observations, self-control or self-discipline is a better way to get things done rather than relying on motivation. The time you spend looking for motivation to study you could have been studying already. Also, motivation wears off because we are humans and we experience different emotions at various point in time. What do we do then? Do we wait to feel motivated again? Self-discipline says I am going to study no matter my mood, it does not matter whether or not I feel motivated I am going to learn these number of topics today. Pick up the book and begin preparing for exams. Now...

A Search For True Love (Blast In the Past)

I'm sharing a poem I wrote  five years ago, I was fifteen years old at the time but it seems like love was my favourite topic. A Search For True Love They say true love comes when she least expect it Just stop the worrying because very soon she'd get it This advice she would not take She was impatient and did not want to wait She went searching both near and far But every guy she settled with gave her a scar She got hurt too many times before She could not take any more She cried herself to sleep at nights But little did she know, around the corner was her long awaited knight He had been her friend for many years When he told her 'I love you' she broke down in tears Realizing how stupid she was and how blind Not to know her true love was with her the whole time View the original post here: http://chenellepalmer.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-search-for-true-love.html

How To Lose Weight Fast (Without Exercise)

Mid-October I decided that I wanted to lose some weight because since I've been on the work and travel program I gained twenty pounds. I believe eating McDonald's and pizza every opportunity I got was what led to my weight gain. Honestly, the weight didn't matter much to me until almost everyone I knew told me I had gotten fat.      Since I was in highschool my problem area was my stomach, my dream was to have a flat stomach, that was all. I would do ab workouts as often as I could but nothing would change. I did the same thing in university; I went on YouTube and found ab workouts  and I would do them daily, yet still my pouch was not going anywhere. Around my second year in university I found out after doing some research that for me to lose my belly weight I could not only do ab workouts but a full body workout. So I started jogging, and again I was not seeing any results.      So let'...

Steping Into 2018

A lot of persons have already started thinking about what they want to accomplish in 2018 or how to make it a better year than 2017. I have realized that what causes many of these goals to fail is because we wait until the start of the new year; but what about starting now? The earlier you start the better able you will be to accomplish your goals. You are not going to be motivated to work towards something just because it is the first day of the new year, it will be just another day. This is why I disagree with having new year resolutions because it is not any different from the other goals you have set in the middle of the year or towards the end of the year. It is just another reason to procrastinate and say "well, next year I will do this" or " the new year will be a fresh start". Why should you start today?   Starting today will allow for you to develop a habit of working towards your goal. If you step into 2018 with the same old habits of 2017 it wi...

My Work and Travel Experience

The summer of 2017, I participated in the Summer Work and Travel Program. This program allowed me to work and live in the United States of America for a little over 3 months on a J1 Visa. The main aim of the program is to learn more about American culture by having first-hand experience through living amongst their people. However, this program turned out to be way better than what I had expected. I learned so much and had a wonderful experience that I intend to go back next summer. The company I worked with hired 9 students, four of us were from Jamaica, two from the Philippines, one from Kazakhstan and two from Ukraine. This program is described as a cultural exchange, between American culture and your own culture. But through this program I was learning about more than just the American culture. I shared a home with two Filipino girls, so their culture was one that I came in direct contact with. I loved learning new things from them and they were such amazing person...
